Auditions are available for the following instruments:  flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, violin, viola, cello, string bass, piano and harp. 

Applicants will need to prepare a solo selection of their choice and will be given a short excerpt for sight reading at the audition. 

The prospective age range for the Orchestra will be from 7th to 12th grade.  With regard to skill level, it is difficult to quantify the level of performance necessary to participate in the LYO.  Generally, students who have taken lessons for two or more years or have participated in a band or orchestra program for two or more years should feel confident about auditioning for the LYO. 

While it is not possible to invite all applicants to participate, every effort will be made to be inclusive of applicants without sacrificing the overall considerations of the Orchestra.
